James Baum debut album coming soon~!

It's a long time coming for James Baum (known to friends as Jimbo). Since his hit single "Skirts" and "Letter in a Song" there was not much known about this bright talent. Having already won MACP award as a lyricist in 2004 for the most played English song of the year and the Hitz.Fm best urban award in 2005, 2006 and this year has been really quiet. I guess now we know why...

Formed his own label Red Room Studio and currently finalizing inlays for his EP he is indeed a busy man in silence. To those who knows him you will certainly know that music means a whole lot to him and indeed is his life. His past collaborations include "The Feature -Liang", "Peejay Peejay - Doul", "Ku ingin, Need a break, Seketika - Dayang Nurfaizah", "Weekender - Reefa" and many more.

So it's a good guess that his sounds will bring a new envelope to the local music scene and this time with his own name on top instead of credits of behind the scenes work. Well done and good luck James~!

When it comes to electronica we don't seem to have much leads on local gigs. Well of course the biggest DJs have graced their vinyls on Malaysian soil such as Oakenfold, Carl Cox, and the most recent Benny Banassi. Still somehow we thirst for more and more. Events are far and wide as far as generally we could tell and a local source seems to be just the fix we need.

Foundation KL is a collaborative point for all to share and experience the music. The latest updates on events and news are always posted about the scene and it's very close to ground level. All the insights are simply personal...which is hard to come by. The contributors themselves are DJs or passionate people about the subject. I suggest to go check it out.

MR. C. Loco ex Poetic Ammo has come a long way. Since his Ammo days he seems to be doing something different with good mix of English and Malay raps. Since 2004 he has been working on his solo project to define him self away from the sounds of Poetic Ammo and come up with a really good mixture of beats and spits that still listeners and fans can recognize as simply Loco. He has Mr. Tech by his side in almost all of his songs so far. Looks like a formidable duo as far as catchy songs go. Still we have not heard when exactly his album is coming out. But for 2 songs of his to be featured in Afdlin Shauki's Sumolah is really a feat that no one in the country has achieved. For a listen to his latest singles including those included in Sumolah Soundtrack head on tohis page on AMP.

Within the past year or so local sneaker pimps may notice one thing. Special Edition kicks are slowly coming into the market . And no these are not from rogue importers who are trying to make a fast buck. Locally it is tough to get out with your on album...and even harder to get into the internationl market. Well for those who are interested and wants to be heard and spread the word what Malaysia has to truly offer get on EA Amplify Dot Com. It's part of the gaming house efforts to get new sounds into their line-up of games. We figure that it is a good chance to be heard with no cost at all. Registration is free and you can upload your music and distribute it online. Go and check it out~!

It wont matter that much since this is a project blog and the actual running site can be totally different. - I Represent Malaysia -

Many would question what does represent a country. And many would answer a lot of things. Our definition here will not stand in the way of our traditional culture and heritage but in fact highlight our modern culture. Specifically among teens and young adults. How rich and diverse the amalgamation and fusion of different influences in our fashion, music and arts will all be showcased. This blog serves the purpose to kick start a bigger idea when we hope the this project will have it's very own website and staple mainstay in other common media.

All information here are to be shared with everyone. We'll develop an understanding of modern Malaysian culture and create a path for greater awareness. Materials will include what we see on the streets. From Kedah to Johor and the Borneo island of Sabah and Sarawak states. This project is a combination of ideas from people with different ethnic backgrounds and education that takes the pride of being what they are and having the will to further evolve into something that has even more to give in the future.

The editors and content contributors here will slowly note the progress we have made as often as possible into this here blog and at the same time compile materials that fits the concept of representing modern Malaysia to the rest of the world. We very much hope that with support from our readers and those who want to pursue our culture this project can stand with pride in it's heart and words as its limbs to reach where no other has ever reached before.
